In Pomorie since the beginning of the year eliminated 25 unauthorized landfills

The total area of liquidated landfills amounted to 12.26 hectares. Eight of them were located on the lands of the forest fund, another 17 - on lands of other categories. Works were carried out in Veli, Verkhnetoemsky, Vilegodsky, Vinogradovsky, Konosh, Onega, Pinega, Primorsky and Ustyansky districts.

Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry of the Arkhangelsk Region Anna Sheveleva said that the largest amount of work was carried out in the Veli, Vinogradov and Primorsky districts.

Representatives of regional environmental agencies and volunteers of the Clean Arctic public project from five regions of the country cleared landfills with a total area of more than 5 hectares, collected 17 tons of waste. Another large landfill was eliminated in the Berezniki forestry in the territory of the Tulgas district forestry, said Anna Sheveleva.

In addition, the government of the Arkhangelsk region, together with municipalities, developed and approved a program for the development of infrastructure in stronghold settlements. Within the framework of the federal project “Development of infrastructure in human settlements” of the national project “Infrastructure for life”, six unauthorized landfills were additionally eliminated this year: three in Plesetsk, two in Shenkursk and one in Mirny.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Muraev stressed that work on the elimination of objects of unauthorized waste disposal has been conducted in Pomorie since 2019. Public activists, volunteers, regional operator, land owners and forest tenants are actively involved in it.

- For eight years in the Arkhangelsk region eliminated about 760 such landfills. The total volume of waste exported to legitimate objects from forests and settlements of the region exceeded 151 thousand cubic meters, said Igor Muraev. The pace of cleaning allows us to expect that for several years the number of unauthorized landfills in the region will be minimized. Work on their elimination in Pomorie continues.
