Two tankers carrying oil exploded and caught fire in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz

Two tankers carrying oil exploded and caught fire in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. This is reported by Tasnim, referring to the press service of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is part of the armed forces of Iran.
The news agency said that both oil tankers tried to follow a prohibited route in the specified strait. A fire broke out on both tankers as a result of the mine explosion.
Earlier, the Iranian TV channel Press TV has already reported on a series of explosions in the south of the country, near the island of Qeshm. In addition, the agency Tasnim reported the fall on the island of two missiles that flew from the Persian Gulf. At the moment, there are no official data on the presence of victims, and other details of the incident have not been disclosed.
It is worth noting that explosions in the area of the Strait of Hormuz were recorded earlier. Then characteristic sounds were heard from the sea side near the settlements of Sirik and Keshm. It was assumed that some of these sounds could be associated with warning shooting at ships that violated established rules of navigation.
At present, the situation in the region remains tense. This comes amid an ongoing standoff between Iran, on the one hand, and the United States and Israel, on the other, which dates back to February 2026.
