In the forest near Grodno, a local resident during a “quiet hunt” discovered an unusual and dangerous find – four 152-millimeter shells from the Great Patriotic War, ingrown into tree trunks. This is reported by the Department of Internal Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, writes sb.by.

The man went for mushrooms near the vegetable factory. Checking another clearing, he drew attention to the strange trunks: right in them were ammunition. According to the most likely version, during the fighting shells were stacked on the ground and slightly sprinkled. Decades later, a forest grew here, and growing trees raised them with them.
Security on the spot was provided by employees of the Grodno ROVD. Sappers took out the shells and destroyed them. The police thanked the concerned local resident for the timely report and accurate indication of the location of the find.
It is noted that six years ago a similar case occurred in Grodno itself: during the reconstruction of barracks along Proletarskaya street, ammunition was found in the trunk of a poplar.
