As the investigation established, in the spring of this year, a 54-year-old resident of Minsk received a call from an unknown person. Posing as a manager of an investment company, he offered to make money on exchange operations. Minchanin agreed. A girl contacted him in Telegram, who explained: to make a profit, you should register on the crypto platform and make a start-up capital. The man borrowed a large sum from friends and transferred it to an electronic wallet. The impression of success arose immediately: the amount was displayed on the account, he saw how the balance "grows", and at the direction of the fraudster regularly replenished it, making new transactions.

At one point, the curator reported alarming news: the account was blocked, and a fee must be paid to restore access to it. Minchanin made more than 10 payments, after which he was told to expect the collection service to bring a large sum at the place of residence. But each time delivery was canceled for various reasons: personal data were not confirmed, its conditions changed and additional payment was again required.

Then the attackers sent the victim a letter, allegedly from a foreign bank, about the need to pay interest to avoid tax. Then the man suspected something was wrong and called the bank, where he learned that there were no cash receipts in his account. Realizing that he was a victim of fraud, he turned to the police.

The total amount of damage exceeded 110 thousand, reported in the UK.

On this fact, the Frunzensky (Minsk) district department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 209 (fraud committed on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Currently, investigative actions and operational-search measures are being carried out to identify persons who are involved in the commission of the crime.
