The prosecutor’s office of Zhlobinsky district supported in court the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 40-year-old local resident – he was charged with fraud, committed repeatedly and on an especially large scale. The man had previously been tried and served a prison sentence for fraud. After his release in January 2022, he continued his business activities in the field of car repair and painting.

According to the prosecutor’s office, from April 2024 to May 2026, the man, knowing reliably about his unfavorable financial condition as an entrepreneur, deceived 28 people and concluded contracts with them for car body repairs. He did not intend to fulfill his obligations. At the same time, he had a number of unfulfilled obligations, including under previously concluded contracts and for renting premises, and there was no profit.

After customers handed over their cars, the man disassembled the cars to create the appearance of repair. In some cases, it was reported that additional details should be purchased. Under the contracts, the man was given money - as a rule, 80% of the cost of work as an advance, for the purchase of necessary spare parts. After receiving an advance payment under various pretexts, the accused extended the period of repair work. At the same time, the contractual obligations were not fully fulfilled in time.

As a result, the man took possession of citizens’ money in the amount of more than 87 thousand rubles, which is an especially large size.

At the hearing, the accused pleaded not guilty and explained that he did not meet the deadlines due to a shortage of employees.

The court of Zhlobinsky district ruled a guilty verdict. On the basis of Part 4 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code, a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 5 years 6 months with a fine of 100 basic values (4.5 thousand rubles). The court granted civil claims for compensation for material and moral damage caused to five victims, totaling 4.5 thousand rubles.
