The jury acquitted the Russian who was tried for the murder of his grandmother

A jury in the Supreme Court of Karelia issued an acquittal in the case of the murder of an elderly woman. A man who was accused of killing his grandmother was released from custody right in the courtroom.

The tragedy occurred on the night of July 5-6, 2025. The crime scene was a dacha in the Pryazhinsky district.

The prosecution insisted that the grandson strangled the pensioner, who was in a helpless condition. However, it was not possible to prove his guilt.

The jury examined the circumstances of the case and came to the conclusion that the involvement of the defendant in the death of the woman has not been proven. On the basis of the verdict, the court issued an acquittal.

As reported in the joint press service of the courts of the Republic, after the announcement of the verdict, the man was released.
