As it turned out, the attackers came to the young man through the messenger. Introducing himself as an employee of Belposhta, the interlocutor told about a registered letter from the Ministry of Education and asked to dictate a six-digit confirmation code received by e-mail. Immediately after that, another unknown person called the Minsk resident (already via video link) and said that the fraudsters used the obtained data to register the transfer of money to foreign accounts on behalf of the victim.
Afraid of criminal responsibility, the Minsk citizen agreed to perform confidential tasks to prove his innocence. Following instructions, he met with an elderly woman and took a bag of cash from her. The guy thought he was helping a defrauded pensioner, in whose name the scammers took a loan.
More than 10 thousand dollars the young man took abroad and hid under a tree in the agreed place. The curator then gave him about 100 BYN for lunch and told him to return to Minsk.
This fact is being checked.
