According to the victim, she does not know how to use an ATM, so in one of the shopping centers asked for help from a random passerby. The citizen called the man a pin code and dictated the amount she planned to withdraw.
The stranger willingly agreed to help, however, taking advantage of the trust of the pensioner, performed an additional operation. In addition to the agreed 80 BYN, the attacker cashed another 1,400 BYN from the woman’s account and misappropriated the money to himself.
The victim learned about the disappearance only the next day, when she came to the bank for a pension. Only then did she go to the police.
Thanks to the prompt actions of law enforcement officers, the identity of the suspect was established. He was a 31-year-old worker. A criminal case was opened against the man on the fact of theft of property by modifying computer information.
The police remind that the disclosure of pin codes and codes from SMS to third parties may lead to unauthorized write-off of funds. If there is a need for assistance when withdrawing cash or making an electronic transfer, you should contact only the employees of the bank.
