The police revealed the details of the fraudulent scheme, the victim of which was a 17-year-old resident of Nerechta. The young man gave the criminals all the family savings for fear of loved ones.
The attackers called the student via video link. Unknown showed the camera service ID and said that the parents of the teenager allegedly suspected of financing terrorism. To avoid criminal prosecution of relatives, the guy was ordered to observe strict secrecy and urgently find a large sum.
A frightened teenager took 500 thousand rubles from the house, lying to his mother that the funds would be needed to pay for college. After that, he took a taxi from Nerekhta to Kostroma, where he transferred all the money through the terminal to the details dictated by the scammers.
The realization of the deception came only after returning home – the next morning the young man confessed everything to his mother, after which the family appealed to the internal affairs bodies. Investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Nerecht and Nerecht district opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on a large scale).
