A criminal case has been sent to the court against two citizens, 59 and 63 years old, who are accused of embezzlement by abuse of official powers committed by a group of persons on a preliminary conspiracy on a large scale, the Leninsky district prosecutor’s office told the Minsk-Novosti correspondent.

The defendants worked in the dining room: one was a production manager, the second was a cashier. The investigation found that from December 2025 to April 2026, the women, by prior conspiracy, stole a total of 15,716.87 BYN from the proceeds.

The idea belonged to the head of production: since due to repair work on the cash register, the CCTV camera did not function, she instructed her subordinate not to break some orders. Every evening, the cashier gave her the difference in revenue, for which she received a cash reward from the boss weekly.

When the scam was revealed, criminal proceedings were opened against both Minsk women.

- The defendants were not previously brought to criminal responsibility, one of them works as a cook in one of the capital’s supermarkets, the second is a pensioner, commented Alexander Mazanik, Deputy Prosecutor of the Leninsky District. They are charged with the seizure of property committed by an official using official powers (theft by abuse of official powers), a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a large scale, that is, in a crime under Part 3 of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code, the sanction of which is imprisonment for a term of 3 to 10 years with a fine and with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities.
