The Last Year: An Unnecessary Genius
The Alexandrinsky Theatre has a big premiere on the Historical Stage. Artistic director Nikita Kobelev staged Yuri Tynyanov’s outstanding modernist novel The Death of Vazir-Mukhtar, which tells about the last months of Alexander Griboyedov’s life. The author of “Woe from Wit” was also the plenipotentiary representative of Russia in Persia, the rise in his career was followed by a life collapse and monstrous death. Kobelev “packed” the unfulfilled fate in a multi-component performance. Reconstructed the mushroom-eating biography so that its pain points were reflected in us today.
