Aleynik: Belarus calls for increased role of parliamentary diplomacy in conflict resolution

The delegation of Belarus takes part in the work of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the city of Arusha of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security Sergey Aleynik said on the sidelines of the forum:

- It is a unique platform, an inter-parliamentary organization that unites 183 countries of the world. The current Assembly will have a rather serious dialogue related to geopolitical issues and the global crisis of trust, which is felt today in all spheres of life.

Speaking about the key priorities of our country in the international arena, the parliamentarian stressed:

- Belarus has always promoted and promoted a peaceful, creative and unifying agenda. We support increasing the role of parliamentary diplomacy in conflict resolution and sustainable development.

Within the framework of the forum, the Belarusian delegation takes part in the general political discussion, as well as in events through the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Eurasia geopolitical group. A number of bilateral meetings are scheduled on the sidelines of the Assembly.

- We have already held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, the host country of the Assembly, emphasized the friendly nature of our relations and discussed the prospects for the development and deepening of political dialogue, inter-parliamentary cooperation, Sergey Aleynik said. Special attention was paid to deepening trade and economic cooperation, primarily in the areas of industrial cooperation, improving the level of food security in Tanzania, developing cooperation in agriculture, health and education.
