Belarus at IPU Assembly: We seek to strengthen international security and de-escalate tensions
Belarus, together with friendly countries, seeks to strengthen international peace and security, de-escalate tensions in interstate relations.

Belarus, together with friendly countries, seeks to strengthen international peace and security, de-escalate tensions in interstate relations, and restore an atmosphere of trust. This was stated by the Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Sergey Aleynik in his speech on October 7 at the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held in Tanzania.

“The Republic of Belarus is always open to dialogue and is ready to comprehensively share its experience, including on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Sergey Aleynik. Belarus, being under numerous illegal sanctions of the West, was able to achieve important results and today ranks 35th in the international ranking of the SDGs for 2026. The overall indicator of the implementation of the sustainable development agenda in our country is about 83 per cent.”.
Belarus has already achieved four Sustainable Development Goals: eradicating poverty, providing clean water and sanitation, reducing inequality and preserving terrestrial ecosystems.
“These successes are the merit of the leadership of our country and the result of its far-sighted, wise and consistent policy, effective public administration with a priority on national interests,” Sergey Aleynik said. Some pseudo-democrats tried to teach and accuse Belarus of allegedly lacking democratic institutions. But it is in our country, unlike the current West, that a genuine democracy has been established, when the voice and aspirations of citizens are a priority for the institutions of power.”.
President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has always emphasized the fundamental principle of our domestic policy – the focus of the state has always been, is and will be people and their legitimate interests. The expression of true democracy in our country is the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (VNS), an institution that does not exist in any so-called liberal system, said the chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly.
He also said that the Belarusian people, realizing their right to participate in the management of state affairs, through the Supreme Council determines the key vectors of the country’s development strategy, approves the most important areas of society’s life and forms a national agenda that reflects the interests of all regions and social groups.
For example, last year, the SPC approved a number of strategic documents, including the Program of socio-economic development of the country for 2026-2030. The main goal of this document is to ensure the transition to a fundamentally new quality of life for every Belarusian citizen.
" The Republic of Belarus has many mechanisms that implement the principle of “good governance” and completely destroy stereotypes about our wonderful country imposed from the outside, said Sergey Aleynik.
“Belarus has many friends all over the world, and their circle is expanding every year. We stand for a multipolar just world order. We are open for cooperation with all those who share our fundamental principles, the Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic concluded.
