Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security Sergey Aleynik and member of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security Alla Smolyak participate in the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is taking place in Arusha, Tanzania. The World Parliamentary Forum brought together delegations from more than 120 countries.

The diplomatic marathon on the sidelines of the assembly was immediately marked by a series of important bilateral talks. The meeting of the member of the Council of the Republic Sergey Aleynik with the speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania Moussa Dungu was key. The leaders discussed promising areas for the development of Belarusian-Tanzanian inter-parliamentary cooperation and coordination of efforts at international platforms. The Belarusian side highly appreciated the organization of the summit and the effective activity of the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Exxon, representing Tanzania.
- She did a truly outstanding, brilliant job and showed the highest level. This is a wonderful result for all of us and a great pride for Tanzania, because your wonderful country is so well represented in the international arena, Sergey Aleynik said in an interview with his Tanzanian counterpart.

The range of international relations between the Belarusian parliamentarians continued with meetings with key partners in the Asian region. Negotiations were held with President of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yusuf Raza Gilani. The dialogue was held in an atmosphere of sincere friendliness, openness and mutual respect. The Head of the Pakistani Parliament warmly welcomed the members of the Council of the Republic and stressed the readiness for close cooperation on the sidelines of the forum:
- We are sincerely glad to welcome you and invite you to actively work together at the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, said Yusuf Raza Gilani.

The parties noted the convergence of views on the formation of a new, fair multipolar order and agreed to continue intensive dialogue between the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
In addition to the bilateral track, members of the Council of the Republic are actively working on consolidating platforms. The Belarusian delegation took part in the coordination meeting of the heads of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states, as well as in the events of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The presence of Belarus at such a representative forum in Africa confirms that the sovereign foreign policy of our country, aimed at creation, equal security and respect for the traditions of each people, is increasingly resonating with international partners around the world.
