Details of the meeting between Ryzhenkov and Meredov: new transit routes and an invitation for an official visit

On October 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. The meeting took place within the framework of the participation of the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CISM), which takes place in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan. The parties gave a positive assessment of interdepartmental cooperation, noting its constructive and progressive nature.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of intensifying bilateral dialogue at various levels, including in the format of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The ministers reviewed the schedule of upcoming economic events, including congress and exhibition activities. We paid special attention to issues of interaction at multilateral platforms, noting the closeness of the approaches of the two countries on key issues of the international agenda and mutual support in elections to UN bodies.

The parties confirmed their interest in further coordination of joint work in the field of maintaining peace and stability in the region, including in the context of the upcoming Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

The ministers noted the steady positive dynamics of mutual trade and the complementarity of the economies of the two countries. The focus was also on the development of cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, including the use of the port infrastructure of Turkmenistan and the possibility of creating transit hubs for Belarusian products. The parties discussed the resumption of flights between Minsk and Ashgabat.

The parties stressed the importance of preserving the historical memory that unites the peoples of the two countries.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2027-2028.

Maxim Ryzhenkov invited his colleague to visit Belarus on an official visit.
