Gaidukevich spoke about the course of Belarus on mutually beneficial relations with neighbors and the situation in Europe
Even in the current difficult situation, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been and remains a supporter of building mutually beneficial business relations with Western neighbors.

Even in the current difficult situation, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was and remains a supporter of building mutually beneficial business ties with Western neighbors. During a working trip to the experimental field of the Dzerzhinsky agricultural plant on Monday, October 12, the Head of State said that now, when food is in trouble in Europe due to this drought, it is necessary to quietly cooperate with them. In the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio”, the Deputy of the House of Representatives Oleg Gaidukevich on the air of the talk show “Budni” spoke about Belarus’ approaches to relations with Western neighbors, writes sb.by.
According to Oleg Gaidukevich, it is unwise to listen to those who say that it is necessary to abandon cooperation with Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and build a wall like them:
- Take China, for example. Great country! Who did the Chinese refuse to trade with? They work with the European Union. The U.S. is working. Why should we behave differently? Our neighbors are given to us from above. They're not going anywhere in 5 years or 50 years.
Oleg Gaidukevich believes that ordinary citizens of the Baltic States and Poland want normal relations between the countries, but their political elites only spoil everything
- The common Pole wants a normal border, normal business and that there will never be a war. Do you think most Poles want to fight? If an honest poll is conducted today in Poland and Lithuania, 99% will say: God forbid war, God forbid conflicts, let’s live normally! And Alexander Lukashenko, focusing on the national interests of his people, and not on some PR or some loud statements, looks pragmatically. That's his strength! Governments come and go, but the people remain.
At the same time, Oleg Gaidukevich explained that cooperation with neighbors is beneficial:
- Even if under these sanctions we conduct some kind of economic cooperation, albeit a small one, with the same Lithuanians and Poles, what is bad for Belarus and the people of our country, or for the people of Poland or Lithuania? Nothing bad! Our policy has proven itself right. Look how mad the Lithuanian authorities are because we introduced visa-free travel. They already want to ban heavy trucks from entering Belarus. They come up with new and new restrictions. Why? We have an open policy and are ready to engage in dialogue. It demonstrates our strength and rightness.
In addition, Alexander Lukashenko commented on the situation in France, where mass protests of students and schoolchildren dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the education system began in late September. It is unacceptable to use children for political purposes. Thus, Oleg Gaidukevich pointed out that the difference between the Belarusian position and the duplicitous position of the West is that it is always consistent and honest:
- We wish no harm to anyone. We do not want the collapse of the European Union. We don't want them to have chaos. We don't want them to have a war. First of all, they border us. It could affect us in one way or another. We don't need this. Secondly, we do not change our principles. We have always said and said that the fate of the country should not be decided on the street!
Oleg Gaidukevich said that Belarus wants peace in Europe and everything is resolved through dialogue and constitutional means:
- If someone violates public order, they must be held strictly accountable. This is our principled position, it does not change. We don't want war on anyone.
At the same time, Oleg Gaidukevich asked rhetorically whether Belarus has ever interfered in the internal affairs of France or any other EU country. Belarus demands from others what it does:
- Unlike the West, which says one thing and does another. He talks about democracy without it, proclaims freedom and common principles, and lives by double or even triple standards. France is a very good example here.
