Today, on September 16, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus Giorgi Saganelidze met with the leadership of the Grodno region. Issues of the development of trade and economic relations between the Grodno region and Georgia were discussed at a round table with the participation of the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuri Karaev and interested parties.

Giorgi Saganelidze focused on the solid basis of bilateral dialogue, drawing attention to the prospects for cooperation in business relations and the possibility of growth of mutually beneficial trade between the countries:
- I am glad to be on the hospitable Grodno land, where the flow of tourists is growing rapidly. At the same time, Belarusians actively come to Georgia on vacation, discovering new places for themselves. It should be noted that the number of intermarriages between citizens of our countries is increasing. Our peoples are very similar in terms of good neighborliness, cordiality, friendliness. Belarusian products are very popular in Georgia, and this gives us the basis for expanding interconnections at all levels, especially in the economy. The leaders of our countries are aimed at strengthening existing relations.

Deputy Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Andrey Boltrik stressed that one of the most important tasks is the development of foreign trade cooperation with various countries and regions:
The focus of the meeting was the search for a new vector and promising directions in trade and economic cooperation between the countries. Currently, Georgia occupies a small share in our foreign trade turnover, despite the fact that the potential is quite large. Grodno region supplies meat and dairy products, woodworking products, as well as a number of other commodity items to Georgia. We discussed options for the possible development of tourism infrastructure, the participation of partners in building closer economic ties. Six enterprises with Georgian capital are registered in the region, mainly working in the field of catering and trade. In this we also see a large field for promising proposals. We hope to adopt the successful Georgian experience in creating tourist clusters and adapt it to the peculiarities of our region. Photo on the announcement: archive "SB"
