On the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, a high tempo of Belarusian parliamentary diplomacy is set. Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security Sergey Aleynik held a series of intensive bilateral meetings with foreign colleagues. During the talks with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili, the parties confirmed their firm mutual commitment to the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary dialogue. Special emphasis was placed on intensifying the work of parliamentary friendship groups and building pragmatic trade, economic, social and humanitarian cooperation.
The strategic vector of partnership was discussed in detail with the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Health of the National People’s Congress of China Tian Xuequen. The parties outlined concrete steps to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and expand cultural and humanitarian ties.
Global issues of the joint agenda at international venues, including the dynamically developing BRICS format, were discussed in detail with Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament of India (Rajya Sabha). The interlocutors spoke in favor of the maximum use of the potential of the relevant working groups and the deepening of bilateral ties.
