How to promote the image of the future of your country at the UN? Elena Ponomareva explained the importance of cultural diplomacy
Professor of MGIMO Elena Ponomareva told ONT why love for the Fatherland should be supported by active work on the international arena and how cinema in foreign languages helps to find allies.

Love for the Motherland and protection of its interests is the task of every citizen, but at the global level, soft power remains the key weapon. On the air of the program “How to See” on the ONT TV channel, political scientist, professor of MGIMO (Russia) Elena Ponomareva explained why it is vital for the allied states to form an attractive image of the future for other countries and how to effectively use the UN General Assembly platform for this.
Elena Ponomareva: As you know, hope dies last, but at the same time, the salvation of drowning people is the work of drowning people themselves, and exceptional love for their Fatherland should come from the citizens themselves. It is important to create an image of the future that is attractive not only for us, but also for other world countries. Diplomacy is, of course, a very important area, and it is necessary to develop it and use it, among other things, at the UN General Assembly. Relatively speaking, films about our countries translated into the languages of all UN General Assembly states, some illustrative material, personal meetings, contacts – all this is diplomatic work. As they say, the road will be overcome by the one who walks.”.
