CIS leaders adopted a statement on the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth
The CIS heads of state adopted a statement on the development of cooperation in the economy, social sphere, science, culture and security.

The CIS heads of state at the summit in Turkmenistan adopted a statement in connection with the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth, BelTA reports.
The document sums up the results of the organization’s work and defines tasks for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, countering modern challenges and adapting the CIS to new realities. Special attention is paid to the development of trade, transport, ICT, science, education, culture and youth exchanges.
The Commonwealth has proved its relevance as a mechanism of multilateral interaction. The heads of state expressed their intention to strengthen political, economic, technological, cultural and humanitarian ties, develop industrial cooperation and scientific and technical cooperation.
Special attention is paid to humanitarian cooperation. The Russian language is the most important tool of interethnic and interstate communication in the CIS.
The countries also confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation in the social sphere, security and emergency prevention. The Commonwealth intends to promote the formation of a new architecture of Eurasian security on the basis of the UN Charter, international law and the principle of equal and indivisible security.
Another key area is the preservation of the historical memory of the Victory of the peoples of the Commonwealth in the Great Patriotic War. The summit also adopted a separate statement on the prevention of distortion and revision of key historical events and on the development of cooperation in the field of history, culture, education and archival affairs.
