Medvedev: Lithuania could disappear from the map in case of military conflict
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation commented on Lithuania’s plans to deploy nuclear weapons: the republic will disappear, and the 5th article of NATO will not work because of the risk of a global catastrophe.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that in the event of a military conflict, Lithuania will disappear from the map of the world, and the fifth article of NATO on collective defense will not be used. He voiced his position, commenting on the intention of Vilnius to lift the constitutional ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons.
“They do it in vain,” the politician said, stressing that such steps open the possibility of deploying any weapons on the territory of the republic.
Medvedev expressed confidence that no country in the alliance would fight for the Baltics in the event of an escalation.
“Even if there is a scorched field, no other country will fight for them. And the well-known Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty or the NATO Treaty will not be implemented. Everyone admits that. Because if it is implemented, it is a global catastrophe, a planetary one, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council said.
As a result, Lithuania will cease to exist as a state.
