Putin: CIS can achieve great success if it abandons trade barriers

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) can achieve much greater success if it takes the path of removing trade barriers. Some national restrictions only hinder the development of trade in the Commonwealth. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of leaders of the CIS countries in a narrow format, BelTA writes.

“Can we move even faster? I guess you can. What do you have to do for that? We need to remove barriers, the Russian leader stressed.

According to Putin, the leaders of the countries are working in the practical sphere, but it is known that “sometimes at the national level” restrictions are imposed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also invited his CIS colleagues to the traditional pre-New Year informal summit in St. Petersburg on December 21. “We can talk about all current and future issues,” the Russian president said about the agenda of the meeting.
