Over 35 years of its existence, the Commonwealth of Independent States has confirmed its relevance as a platform for political dialogue, as well as the development of economic ties and interaction in the field of security. This was stated by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, speaking at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in the city of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan, sb.by reports.

According to TASS with reference to the press service of the leader of the republic, Emomali Rahmon noted the special symbolism of the current meeting of the Council of Heads of State, held under the sign of the 35th anniversary of the formation of the CIS. The President of Tajikistan noted that the path passed over the years confirmed the relevance of the Commonwealth as a platform for political dialogue, development of economic and humanitarian ties, as well as joint response to security risks and challenges.
Emomali Rahmon also stressed the existence of a solid legal framework created within the framework of the CIS in order to expand the agenda of multilateral cooperation and “noted with satisfaction that the CIS today adapts to changing conditions and builds cooperation taking into account new realities.”.
The President of Tajikistan expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the high level of organization of the summit, traditional hospitality and congratulated Turkmen friends on the successful completion of the chairmanship in the CIS, assessing their efforts as positive.
Following the results of the CIS summit in Turkmenbashi, the leaders of the CIS countries signed, among other things, a statement dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the creation of the Commonwealth. The document assesses the situation in world politics and the economy, as well as formulates further directions for deepening cooperation and integration processes within the CIS.
