Rubio: US expects Putin to accept invitation to G20 summit
According to Rubio, the summit could be an opportunity for Putin to meet not only with Donald Trump, but also with other world leaders.

The United States invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the Group of Twenty summit, which will be held on December 14-15 in Miami. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, informs RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the State Department, the meeting may become an opportunity for the Russian leader to hold talks not only with US President Donald Trump, but also with other leaders of leading world powers.
“We hope he will accept that invitation,” Rubio said.
The Secretary also stressed that Washington remains ready for cooperation with Moscow. In his opinion, in order to solve international problems, it is necessary to maintain contacts even with those leaders with whom there are disagreements.
“To solve problems, you need to meet with leaders with whom you have disagreements or certain frictions,” Rubio said.
The Group of Twenty includes the world’s largest economies, as well as the African and European Unions. Earlier, the Kremlin said that Russia will be represented at the summit at a high level. Experts are already involved in the preparation of the necessary documents, but the final decision on the personal participation of Vladimir Putin has not yet been made.
