Shpakovsky explained why Belarus is interested in the Counter-Terrorism Forum

Belarus hosts the Counter-Terrorism Forum on October 7-8. On the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio”, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Alexander Shpakovsky explained why it is important to develop, implement and promote unified approaches in countering cyber threats. Minsk has once again become the center of certain international processes. The organizers of the Counter-Terrorism Forum include the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, which is an effective structure that coordinates the efforts of the CIS states in the field of countering terrorism. Recently, a forum was held with the participation of the CIS Prosecutor General’s Office, and yesterday in the Parliament we heard information from the Prosecutor General of Belarus Dmitry Gora. Speaking about the international cooperation of the prosecutor’s office, he said that we have exemplary relations with the prosecutor’s offices of the CIS countries, the speaker said.

Alexander Shpakovsky stressed that the investigation of crimes, countering terrorism is impossible without international coordination, mutual transfer of operational information and support in terms of monitoring the activities of international terrorist organizations. He continued:

Belarus, fortunately, is not the target of the aspirations of international terrorists, but often these terrorist and extremist structures try to use our country as a transit territory. According to information received from our colleagues, the special services of the Republic of Belarus have repeatedly detained persons who pose a threat to national security for certain partner countries, for the region and the world as a whole. In the same way, our colleagues respond adequately to our requests, because, unfortunately, the threat of political extremism exists for the Republic of Belarus. Therefore, this topic is relevant and interesting for us, and the presence of a significant number of foreign specialists in the field of countering terrorism, the exchange of information seriously enrich the theoretical basis of our special services. There is also a practical component, because this forum is the final stage of anti-terrorist exercises.

The talk show “Budney” is released on weekdays in the morning on “Alpha Radio”. Each issue discusses the most relevant topics from the life of the country and the world. Political scientists, scientists, public figures and journalists of leading media participate in the discussions.
