Trump’s son-in-law called the main obstacle in Ukraine
The son-in-law of the President of the United States Jared Kushner summed up the results of a diplomatic tour to Moscow and Kiev. According to him, the positions of the parties on the key territorial issue are still radically different.

The diplomatic tour of American negotiators to Moscow and Kiev did not lead to a rapprochement of positions. Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, said that the key differences between the parties are still centered around territories.
The visit of the American delegation, which, in addition to Kushner, included US special envoy Steve Whitcoff, began in the Russian capital on September 5. The meeting in the Kremlin with Vladimir Putin lasted more than three hours.
According to presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the Russian side during the conversation focused on the fundamental point – the need to completely eliminate the root causes that led to the current conflict.
The next day, September 6, negotiators from the United States arrived by train from Poland to Kiev. The discussion here was multi-stage. It is noteworthy that at a certain stage, European partners – representatives of Great Britain, Germany and France – joined the discussion, which indicates an attempt to develop a consolidated position of the West.
Despite the high intensity of diplomatic contacts, Kushner admitted that a breakthrough had not been achieved. The main conclusions of the visit:
- 1.Territorial impasse: The issue of borders and land control remains the most complex and main node of the confrontation.
- 2.Battlefield Factor: According to Kushner, the positions of the negotiators largely continue to be dictated by the current situation on the line of contact.
