The Belarusian Red Cross celebrates its anniversary on September 16.
The organization was established in 1921. Since then, its specialists have been in places where people especially need support. The Red Cross provided invaluable assistance during the Great Patriotic War, participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, supported doctors and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The work continues today. Cooperation with foreign associations is actively developing.
Yuri Makushin, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Belarus: We actively cooperate in the implementation of such programs as the Mission Good, the Time for Good Deeds forum. Experts come from Russia, exchange experience and best practices with Belarusian specialists. Volunteers from Russia work together with the Belarusian Red Cross and provide assistance in the areas where it is most in demand.
Cooperation with domestic enterprises is also expanding. The Belarusian Red Cross and MAZ signed an agreement on joint work. The most active volunteers received awards from the flagship of domestic engineering. Now they are waiting for training in first aid skills, as well as in emergency situations.
Zorina Romania, Chairman of the Minsk City Organization of the Belarusian Red Cross: We have been working closely with Minsk Automobile Plant for a long time. The primary organization of the Red Cross is active here. In particular, it is famous for the fact that we actively help children with disabilities and other vulnerable categories of the population. Today we are introducing a new stage of our cooperation, when the Minsk Automobile Plant will have a team of emergency response training and preparation.
Today, more than a thousand volunteers carry out the humanitarian mission of the Belarusian Red Cross. They help children and the elderly, support refugees, collect clothes and participate in emergency response.
