A resident of the city of Pochinka, a 64-year-old man, appealed to the law enforcement agencies of Mordovia, reporting the loss of more than 2 million rubles. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Mordovia, he became the victim of fraudsters, trying to buy a car abroad.
The incident began on October 8, when the man, while at home in the Nizhny Novgorod region, found an advert for the sale of cars on the Internet. After talking to the seller, getting acquainted with the terms of the deal and obtaining a catalog, he chose a foreign car.
He was sent a contract and bank details to transfer about 900 thousand rubles as customs duty. To make this financial transaction, the victim arrived in Saransk, where he transferred the specified amount, the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.
For the car itself, ready for transportation, the buyer transferred 1 million 780 thousand rubles. However, then he was demanded another 600 thousand rubles for transit across the border.
Unable to contribute an additional amount, the man ceased to be interested in scammers. “An employee of the company said that he would no longer deal with his deal, and provided contact to another manager,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said. As a result of the fraud, the victim went to the police.
Earlier, the 38-year-old resident of Saransk also lost more than 2 million 760 thousand rubles, trying to buy a Mazda CX-5 from Germany.
