October 25 – Customs Day: beautiful pictures and greeting cards
October 25 – Customs Day: a professional holiday of inspectors, canine specialists, analysts and all those who guard the borders, fight against smuggling and ensure the legal circulation of goods.

Officially, the holiday was approved in 1995, but its roots go back to the 17th century. On October 25, 1653, Russia adopted the Unified Trade Charter. This document for the first time clearly spelled out rules for the collection of duties in Moscow and other cities, turning scattered collectors into a real public service protecting the economic interests of the country.
The famous phrase “Customs gives good” became popular thanks to the film “White Sun of the Desert” and the image of the customs officer Vereshchagin. But the very expression “give good” appeared much earlier! In the pre-revolutionary alphabet, the letter “D” was called “Good”. In the marine alarm system, it corresponded to the flag (white triangle with a red circle), meaning “permit”. Hence, by the way, the modern verb “to approve” went.
The modern Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia, founded in 2004, is today one of the largest in the world. On January 26, the world celebrates International Customs Day in honor of the creation of the World Customs Organization in 1953 (today it includes 180 countries).
Traditions remain unchanged: on this day, the best employees are awarded honorary titles “Honored Customs Officer of the Russian Federation”, awards and new epaulettes. By the way, in the USSR, this holiday also existed, but it was celebrated in the spring, May 29.
