298 million rubles lost residents of Mordovia on scammers
Statistics have been conducted since the beginning of 2026.

Since the beginning of 2026, more than a thousand criminal cases related to telephone and Internet fraud have been registered in Mordovia. The total damage, according to the regional prosecutor's office, exceeded 298 million rubles, increasing over the past week by another 5.3 million. Attackers use various pretexts to convince people to transfer money, offering to “protect” funds, cancel non-existent loans, extend contracts or block suspicious transfers.
They also require payment for non-existent goods and services. So, 64-year-old pensioner transferred more than 2.6 million rubles for a car that he planned to buy abroad.
The prosecutor’s office urges residents of the region to be vigilant and not to make money transfers to strangers, even if the caller is a relative, buyer, courier or employee of a state institution. It is important to check the identity of the interlocutor.
