6,000 volunteers and 1.7 million new trees. Gomel region joined the action “Give the forest a new zhyzzo!”

Six thousand volunteers, just one week of work and almost two million new trees. The Gomel region launched the republican action “Give the forest a new zhyzzo!” – a large-scale project that has long become a wonderful autumn tradition for the residents of the region of creation and care for nature. The sb.by correspondent spoke with the participants and organizers of the environmental initiative to learn how the region is reviving its green wealth.

One of the largest platforms was the Kalinkovichi district, where tax officials from all over the country came. Shoulder to shoulder with local foresters, specialists of the department planted thousands of young coniferous trees on the Kalinkovych land.

- For us, participation in such projects has already become a good tradition, because we work for the benefit of the state, said Dmitry Kiyko, Minister for Taxes and Duties. Reforestation is a common concern for the future. Working together incredibly brings people together and helps everyone feel a personal involvement in a big and important cause.

A pleasant and informative conclusion of a busy working day for guests of the Kalinkovichi Territory was an acquaintance with local natural beauties on the famous ecological trail of forest wonders.

Representatives of the industrial sector of the region also made a significant contribution to the renewal of green wealth. In the Rivne-Sloboda experimental-production forestry of the Rechitsky experimental forestry farm, the young pine was planted together by the staff of the department of field seismic exploration of the republican unitary enterprise “Production Association Belorusneft”. For the geophysicist of the enterprise Vadim Levkovsky, this is the third season of participation in environmental activities:

- My day-to-day work is closely tied to search and exploration tasks, but our agency never stays out of the right Republican initiatives. Every year we go to plots – not only for landings, but also for garbage collection in the forest fund. The main wealth of Belarus, besides its people, is its unique nature.

As the geophysicist admitted, he sincerely believes in folk wisdom: with what mood you plant a tree, so it will take root. The earth feels a person, so oil workers work exclusively with positive energy and excellent mood - so young seedlings take root much better.

- In addition, working in pairs perfectly strengthens corporate spirit, morale and mutual assistance, added Vadim Levkovsky. It is great to spend time with a big company in the fresh air and make your practical contribution to the development of the state and the protection of natural resources.

- This is my first experience and everything around me is very interesting. Before going to the site, the foresters explained the technology to us in detail and showed everything on personal examples. Autumn weather today showed a little, a small rain dripped, but our combat mood did not interfere at all.

Evgenia stressed that she was pleased to feel part of a huge team of activists and personally replenish the green fund of the region

- When the small trees take root, a mighty forest will grow here. Such work is our living memory, which will remain for future generations.

The scale and plans of the autumn campaign were shared by Elena Potapova, Deputy Head for Ideological Work of the Gomel State Forestry Production Association:

- This week, more than 6 thousand volunteers have already signed up to participate in the landings. In total, during these ecological days in the Gomel region, we plan to lay new young massifs on an area of almost 90 hectares, rooting more than 1.7 million pieces of planting material. At the same time, the region provides all the necessary volume of seedlings 100% independently thanks to its own forest nurseries.

The environmental marathon within the framework of the republican voluntary action “Give the forest a new zhyzzo!” will last until October 24. Anyone can become a co-author of a new Belarusian forest and contribute to the common cause: it is enough to contact the nearest forestry or forestry.
