October 17, 1994 in the editorial office of "Moskovsky Komsomolets" from a bomb explosion killed war correspondent Dmitry Kholodov. Years later, colleagues and loved ones still gather at his grave to commemorate the journalist.

Kholodov wrote about corruption and abuse in the military. In the autumn of 1994, he was handed over a diplomat, which allegedly contained documents compromising the generals. Instead, there was explosives inside.

At the memorial service, Pavel Gusev, editor-in-chief of MK, recalled Kholodov’s honesty, decency and humanity, stressing that these qualities help to preserve his memory today.

The murder case involved six defendants, including Colonel Pavel Popovsky. All of them were acquitted, and in 2005 the Supreme Court finally approved the acquittals. No one was punished. Popovskikh died in 2018. In 2021, Major General Anatoly Belyanin, who was a witness in the case, committed suicide.
