Fraudsters launched a new scheme of deception in connection with failures in “Yandex”

Scammers began to send companies phishing letters, using failures in the services of “Yandex” as a trick, reports TASS with reference to the information security company F6.

Due to problems with the Internet in the country there are failures in the work of Yandex. If you do not open a page, repeat the attempt through Google - letters with such content to send scammers under the guise of government agencies, imitating notifications or orders.

A QR code is attached to the letter: the recipient is asked to scan it, pay for the “delivery” of the document on unscheduled inspection or on bringing to administrative responsibility (from 400 to 600 rubles) and specify the name and address of the one who will receive the “delivery”. In fact, the funds go to the accounts of fraudsters.

On the eve of “Yandex” warned about a new scheme scammers who send letters on behalf of Yandex Cloud. They are asked to open an attachment due to urgent migration or report the blocking of the account. The company gave recommendations on how to distinguish real Yandex letters from fraudulent ones.

Analysts also warned about other schemes related to temporary difficulties in the work of the company's services, including those related to money transfers.

Failures in the work of Yandex services are associated with drone attacks on the company’s data centers. After the attack on October 8, there was a fire in the data center in Sasov, Ryazan region, the next day drones attacked the data center in Kaluga, where several modules failed, and on October 11, the data center in Vladimir was damaged, its work completely stopped. In connection with the failures, Yandex canceled the fee for Yandex Cloud and Yandex 360 until the end of October.

The consequences have been massive. Failures affected “Alice”, “Yandex Go”, “Yandex Pay”, “Yandex Food”, “Yandex Disk”, “Kinopoisk” and other services. Third-party companies using the Yandex Cloud platform, including banks, marketplaces and delivery services, have also experienced problems. Users of “Ciana” on the same day faced problems with access to the site and the application.
