Krasnoyarsk IC opened a case due to lack of food in Evenkia

The Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia opened a criminal case of negligence (Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code) in connection with the poor provision of residents of Evenkia with food, the press service of the department reported.

"At present, investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case," the report said.

Evenki municipal district is located in the north-eastern part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Until 2007, the territory existed as an independent subject of Russia - Evenki Autonomous Okrug. There is no direct road connection between Krasnoyarsk and the administrative center of Evenkia, the village of Tura.

According to the Prosecutor’s office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in August, due to the critically low water level in the Nizhny Tunguska river, the main import campaign to the settlements of the Evenki district was suspended. The last delivery along the river took place at the end of July.

“The shops of the village ran out of vegetables, fruits, dairy products, flour and bottled water, there was a shortage of canned food, meat products, cheese and sausages. In one month, the cost of food increased by 343%. The decision of the administration of the Evenki district in Tour and a number of settlements of the Ilympic group introduced a high-alert regime, — stated in the message.

The Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support of Indigenous Minorities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is engaged in the organization and coordination of food delivery to the northern regions of the region. “However, centralized delivery of products by air transport was not organized, the issue of subsidizing the costs of carriers has not been resolved,” the prosecutor’s office said.

In September, five flights flew from Krasnoyarsk, which delivered food for the population, as well as schools, kindergartens and hospitals, the press service of the municipal administration reported. From 7 to 12 October in Evenkia had to arrive five flights with food, but two of them with 7 tons of products could not fly due to bad weather, told TASS in the administration of the municipality.

By October 14, the air delivery of the remaining 7 tons took place, the Evenkia administration said. The authorities have established standards for the release of products in one hand: 3 kg of potatoes, a dozen eggs, 2 kg of onions, a liter of milk and a fork of cabbage.
