Netflix warns employees of upcoming big wave of cuts

Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service, has announced about 1,000 job cuts, accounting for about 6 percent of its total workforce. This was reported by Variety with reference to an email addressed to employees of the company by co-heads Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters.

The upcoming wave of layoffs will be the largest on Netflix since 2022. The cuts will mainly affect the departments of product development, technology, legal support and personnel. “Our mission to entertain the world is ambitious, and fulfilling it requires us to be disciplined in choosing priorities for our people and resources.”.

At the end of 2025, Netflix had about 16,000 employees and more than 325 million customers worldwide, Variety said.

According to the publication, big reductions at Netflix occurred in 2022, when the company laid off about 450 employees after the number of subscribers to the streaming service fell by 200 thousand.
