Bashkir folk band AY YOLA is included in the bulletin of the first round of voting of the Grammy Award, the press service of ON Label told RBC.
AY YOLA is included in the bulletin in two categories:
Best Global Music Album (Ural Batyr Album) Best Instrument and Vocal Arrangement (Single "Aihylyu")
Ural Batyr is our debut concept album based on the ancient Bashkir epic Ural Batyr. In twelve compositions, we reinterpreted the history of the heroes of the epic, combining traditional Bashkir instruments, modern electronic sound and vocals in the Bashkir language.
The artists also spoke about the single “Aihylyu”: the song is dedicated to the daughter of the moon and the king of birds Samrau, one of the heroines of the epic “Ural Batyr”, whose story reveals the themes of confrontation between light and darkness, loyalty to yourself and choosing your own path.
AY YOLA (Bashkir). июy Yola, read as Ey Yola, is a musical trio from Ufa, the Republic of Bashkortostan, created in 2024 while working on the anthem for the 450th anniversary of Ufa. The band works in the direction of ethnic music with a modern electronic sound. The name of the collective in translation from the Bashkir language means “laws of the universe”.
AY YOLA noted that the inclusion of the group in the Grammy voting list is an opportunity to declare Bashkir music and culture at the highest level of the world music industry.
At the same time, the premiere of the new song of the group - "Adel" - for the poem by Alexander Pushkin "Adelie", the label's press service added. “Adel” was the second song written by AY YOLA during the Arctic voyage on the nuclear icebreaker “50 Years of Victory”.
The 69th annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 7, 2027. It will honor the best recordings, compositions and artists for the year qualifying for the award – from August 31, 2025 to August 28, 2026 – at the choice of members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which will be announced on February 7, 2027. The ceremony will take place for the 24th time at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The official list of Grammy nominees will be announced on November 16 following the results of the first round of voting.
