Roskoshestvo experts have identified a new scheme of fraud on marketplaces, in which attackers under the guise of goods with large discounts sell buyers barcodes to receive other people's orders. This is reported by TASS.

The scheme assumes that scammers sell the codes to buyers allegedly as “profitable orders” or play in lotteries for a small amount. The code that the buyer receives leads to a real order, but it is issued for another person.

Already at the point of issue of orders, several options are possible: the code can be used, fake or not read by the system. But most often it leads to someone else's paid order, which is taken by the one who first comes to the point of issue.

According to experts, fraudsters in various ways, including through social engineering, receive barcodes to issue goods and resell them to buyers. To do this, they create fake online stores in instant messengers and offer products with discounts up to 70-90%. They attribute low prices to the liquidation of inventory, stocks or the fact that the employee sells goods through their own channels.

Fraudsters also use malfunctions in digital services for phishing attacks. In October 2026, they sent letters to companies on behalf of state bodies, citing problems with Yandex services. Recipients were asked to scan the QR code and pay for the delivery of the allegedly official document. In fact, the money went to the criminals.

In October 2025, the Interior Ministry warned of schemes in which attackers create copies of websites of well-known brands, offer discounts of up to 90% and require an advance payment. They also sent through messengers links to fake payment pages to get bank card data.
