Razin disputed the exclusive rights to the songs of “Lovely May” in Turkey
Andrey Razin, the producer of the group “Tender May”, who previously lost court disputes over the rights to the band’s songs in Russia, has achieved recognition of the rights to 28 songs in a Turkish court.
Andrey Razin, the producer of the group “Tender May”, who previously lost court disputes over the rights to the band’s songs in Russia, has achieved recognition of the rights to 28 songs in a Turkish court. This is reported by TASS with reference to court documents.
The Serik 1st Interdistrict Court dismissed the claim to the former owner of the trademark “Tender May” Nikolai Korzhikov and recognized Razin as the author of music and texts. According to the agency, the producer has Turkish citizenship.
Representatives of the rights holders of the songs of the group, recognized by Russian courts, told TASS that they have already appealed the decision of the Turkish court in the regional court of Antalya. They called it “Razin’s attempt to take abroad all the lost heritage of the musical collective in Russia.”.
According to the agency, among the songs, the rights to which Razin actually represented in a Turkish court through a person associated with him, are “Summer”, “Pink Evening”, “White Roses” and “Gray Night”. RBC appealed for a comment to representatives of Razin, sent a request to the court of Turkey.
Sergey Kuznetsov created the group “Tender May” in 1986 in Orenburg. The first popular song of the band was “White Roses” performed by Yuri Shatunov.
In 1992, the group broke up on the initiative of Razin. Shatunov attributed the breakup to internal disagreements over income distribution. After that, he moved to Germany and sued Razin 10 million rubles. Razin himself moved to the United States, where his legal proceedings with the heirs of Shatunov, who died in June 2022 at the age of 49, died shortly after him and Sergey Kuznetsov.
In November last year, producer Andrei Razin was put on the international wanted list. The investigation believes that Razin for a long time used a fake contract with Kuznetsov, which allowed him to receive payments as the copyright holder of works.
On May 19, the court satisfied the complaint of Yuri Shatunov’s widow Svetlana against the decision of the Khostinsky District Court of Sochi to establish the authorship of the songs of “Tender May” for Andrei Razin.
