In the Crimea and the Moscow region will be energy storage
The first energy storage unit in the Krasnodar Territory was launched with the participation of Rosseti and Rosatom. The next project with a capacity of 250 MW is being implemented in the Far East, said the head of the Ministry of Energy Sergey Tsivilev

Russia plans to expand the construction of electricity storage systems: after the Krasnodar Territory and the Far East, such installations will appear in the Moscow region and Crimea. This was stated by the Minister of energy Sergey Tsivilev during a speech in the state Duma, reports TASS.
According to the minister, the first project was implemented in the Krasnodar Territory during seven months of this year. To work on behalf of the Ministry of Energy attracted “Rosseti” and “Rosatom”. “This project is working for the fourth month, we see its great effectiveness,” said Tsivilev.
The next stage will be the placement of drives with a capacity of 250 MW in the Far East. The project will be implemented by Rosseti. “The Moscow region is next, the Crimea is next,” the minister added.
Energy storage systems are planned to be used to cover energy shortages and eliminate restrictions in power grids. The fact that such installations can be in demand in the Far East, in the Kaliningrad region, Dagestan, Moscow and St. Petersburg, previously reported the head of Rosseti Andrei Ryumin.
The efficiency of the drives has already been evaluated in the power system of southern Russia. According to Rosseti, in August they allowed to save about 100 million rubles. and reduce power supply restrictions during the repair and modernization of power facilities.
In other regions, projects are at different stages of development. In May, the Ministry of Energy proposed using drives to cover the projected shortage of electricity in the Far East. In the Crimea, previously planned to install systems with a capacity of up to 100 MW: in September 2025, Rosseti announced a tender for the construction of such a facility in the village of Middle worth up to 17.5 billion rubles.
When choosing a way to implement projects, the existing infrastructure is also important. Ryumin believes that it is advisable to install drives at network facilities by network companies: this will allow using existing capacities and land plots of substations and potentially reduce costs. Another option is to use such systems in conjunction with renewable energy sources, such as solar panels.
Earlier, analysts of Nord Energy estimated that the energy storage market in Russia by 2030 could reach 706 billion rubles, its capacity by this time will be at the level of 14.4 GWh.
