The balloon damaged the equipment of the Tashkent Aksa Toshkent TPP in the Kibray district of Uzbekistan, which caused power outages in several districts of the capital on October 19. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, reports Podrobno.uz.
The incident occurred at 19:05. According to the agency, the ball hit the station equipment and damaged the T-5 transformer. As a result, the protection system worked, and the power plant capacity decreased from 460 to 185 MW. The moment of the incident was recorded by CCTV cameras.
Outages affected parts of Yunusabad, Almazar, Mirzo-Ulugbek and Shaykhantakhur districts of Tashkent. Electricity recovery began shortly after the incident. At 19:09, power supply was partially restored in Yunusabad and Almazar districts. By 19:25 the power supply was fully restored at the expense of backup sources, and at 19:38 the electricity was returned to all consumers.
The agency urged residents not to run balloons near power plants, substations and other electrical installations. Such incidents can result in equipment damage and power outages.
Earlier, the blackout occurred in Tashkent in the summer. On August 14, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan faced massive power outages. The reason was a sharp jump in power in the energy system of the region.
