In Vladivostok, the monument to Alexander Solzhenitsyn was temporarily returned to the Ship Embankment, from where it was removed the day before for transfer to the square of Faith and Hope, the press service of the city administration told Interfax.
“In the process of installation and operation, it turned out that the dimensions of the sculptural composition do not fully correspond to the current spatial characteristics of the square: the monument visually overloads a small recreational area,” the statement said.
Citizens also complained about the new location of the monument. After inspecting the territory, the authorities decided to change the layout of the site, and before the end of these works, leave the sculpture on the Ship Embankment. Then she will be transported to the Garden of Faith and Hope.
The monument to Alexander Solzhenitsyn was erected on the Ship Embankment of Vladivostok in 2015 in memory of his stay in the city in May 1994. Its height is 2.5 m. The documents state that the sculpture is not an object of cultural heritage.
On October 20, the monument was dismantled. The administration then reported that it was planned to complete its installation in the new place in the coming days. The decision to transfer power was made in March: the city Council for culture and art considered that the sculpture does not correspond to the theme of the ship embankment.
