The Russians warned about the risk of fraud when issuing passports for several days through intermediaries, reports TASS with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
“All promotional information posted on the Internet about the possibility of obtaining a passport in a few days should be carefully checked, as this can be fraud. Be vigilant, do not fall for the tricks of fraudsters and do not use the services of private organizations offering dubious services in obtaining passports for money, the Ministry of Internal Affairs urged.
According to the Ministry, for three working days, Russians can only receive a five-year passport if they need urgent treatment abroad, a serious illness or the death of a close relative. There is no such possibility for biometric documents. Registration usually takes from one to three months.
In Russia, there are two types of passports - the old sample for a period of five years and biometric for ten years. State duty for adults - 2 thousand and 6 thousand rubles, for children under 14 years - 1 thousand and 3 thousand rubles, respectively. Russians can have two valid passports at the same time, but the second must be biometric.
The application can be submitted through "Public Services", units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or MFC. In the summer, the Foreign Ministry explained that changes in the procedure for issuing passports affected only Russians who draw up documents through the ministry for official business trips. For the rest of the citizens, the previous methods of treatment were preserved.
Five-year Russian passports are not recognized in 15 Schengen countries, including Germany, France, Finland and Sweden.
