Acting Deputy Head of Yekaterinburg Nikolai Vakhlov presented to the deputies of the City Duma the municipal program “Development of the public transport system and ensuring road safety”

Acting Deputy Head of Yekaterinburg Nikolai Vakhlov presented to the deputies of the City Duma the municipal program “Development of the public transport system and road safety”. The document is designed for 2027-2031, the press service of the city administration reports.
The key goals of the program are the growth of passenger traffic, increasing the availability of transport for people with limited mobility and reducing the number of accidents with victims. By 2031, it is planned to bring the share of rolling stock equipped for the transportation of low-mobility citizens to the level of at least 50%.
The total funding of the program will exceed 81 billion rubles. The structure of the funds looks like this:
from the budget of the Sverdlovsk region – 4 615 095 thousand rubles; from the federal and regional budgets – 482 515 thousand rubles; from the city budget – 76 348 765 thousand rubles.
Compared to the program of previous years, the increase in funding will be 59%.
Among the priorities is the renewal of the fleet of ground passenger transport. In particular, the purchase of vehicles under the financial lease scheme will continue, as well as leasing payments for 50 trams purchased in 2026 and buses purchased in 2023.
Within the framework of the program, it is planned to further modernize the stop complexes: install information plates, service electronic scoreboards. Special attention is paid to road infrastructure: 12 traffic lights and 1,600 traffic signs will be installed annually at intersections with high accident rate and heavy traffic.
To improve road safety, the introduction of intelligent transport systems will continue to automate traffic management.
The program also includes measures to maintain paid parking space, including underground parking on Pirogov Street, 3/2 (it is designed for 439 cars).
In 2025, MK-Ural wrote that deputies of the city Duma of Yekaterinburg approved the budget of the capital of the Urals for the next year. The total revenue is 100 billion rubles, expenses – 103 billion rubles. The budget plans to allocate 15 billion rubles for the continuation of the transport reform of Yekaterinburg, including 3.5 billion rubles for the renewal of rolling stock.
