Minsk offers full industrial and technological cooperation to partners

The topic of regional interaction and business partnership is now forming a key vector of urban development. This was stated at the V International Forum of Economic Cooperation on September 11 by First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Alexander Komendant, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

- In a dynamically changing world economy, the success of any metropolis depends on the ability to build a direct dialogue, find common ground and build reliable cooperation chains. It is symbolic that representatives of 15 countries are present at our forum today. The demand for open, pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation is more important than ever. Minsk occupies a strong position in this process, said the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The geography of Minsk’s sisterhood covers 38 cities in strategically important regions of the world, and this institution has become an effective mechanism of economic diplomacy. Traditionally, the high level of integration is demonstrated by the vector of the Union State, in which the Belarusian capital develops twinning and partnership relations with almost two dozen Russian cities.

- Here we have reached the level of full technological cooperation and the creation of common production chains, said A. Commandant.

As examples, he cited the work of almost a thousand Minsk buses and trolleybuses in St. Petersburg, cooperation with Kazan in the field of security and health, as well as the joint production of trams "Minin" between the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and "BKM Holding" with a localization level of over 90%. Today, Minsk is one of the most attractive platforms for foreign capital.

- In general, representatives of about 74 countries of the world invest in Minsk. Investors are attracted by our developed industry, large-scale construction, reliable financial sector, trade, real estate and services, said A. Commandant.

Large projects are being successfully implemented in the city: Gazprom Center, the complex development of the North Coast (UAE) with the Minsk International Exhibition Center with an area of 37 thousand square meters. m, the Waldorf Astoria Minsk hotel, and with the participation of China, the international standard swimming pool and the National Football Stadium were commissioned. Economic infrastructure is also actively developing with the countries of Central Asia (Trade houses of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), and the dialogue with the countries of Asia and Africa is supported by knowledge-intensive projects in the field of medicine and education. The first deputy chairman called the practice of reciprocal Cities Days an important integrated tool for strengthening direct ties, which proved its high efficiency in working with both near and far abroad.

Summing up the speech, A. Commandant stressed:

The model that Minsk offers to its international partners is universal and reliable. We offer not just trade, but full-fledged production, technological, investment and educational co-authorship. Minsk is open to new ideas and is ready to act as a reliable partner for everyone who is focused on long-term and mutually beneficial development.
