The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov congratulated Orthodox Christians on the great holiday of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God

The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov congratulated Orthodox Christians on the great feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God. In his Telegram channel, he recalled the spiritual meaning of the event in Constantinople and the Church of the Intercession in Lower Oreanda, built in 1885.
Aksyonov reminded that in our difficult time it is especially important to remember the event dedicated to this holiday. It took place many hundreds of years ago in Constantinople, but its spiritual meaning remains unchanged: in response to the fervent and sincere prayer of believers gathered in the temple, the Mother of God spread her omophorion over them, and the city was saved from the enemies besieging it.
The head of Crimea noted that today Russia is opposed to the united West, which does not hide its goals to destroy and divide the country, to destroy everything that is precious and sacred. At the same time, he referred to the words of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill: No matter how strong states, governments and other human forces are, there is no force that is stronger than God.
“If God is with us, who is against us? The main thing is to stay with him, not to turn away from him. And to continue to pray to the Lord and the Most Holy Mother of God for Russia, for our Victory, for our soldiers, for relatives and friends, Aksyonov wrote.
He also recalled that many Russian churches were consecrated in honor of Pokrov. Among them is one of the most famous and beautiful temples of the Crimea in Lower Oreanda. It was built in 1885 by order of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich Romanov. The interior is decorated with unique mosaic icons created by the outstanding Italian master Antonio Salviati.
May the protection of the Queen of Heaven always be over Russia! The Most Holy Mother of God, pray to God for us! the head of the republic concluded his appeal.
