A meeting of the Coordinating Council on Import Substitution of Oil and Gas Equipment was held in St. Petersburg. It was attended by Governor Alexander Beglov, Deputy Prime Ministers Denis Manturov and Alexander Novak. The main topic was ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country and the introduction of advanced solutions in the industry.
The event was also attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District Igor Rudenya, representatives of relevant departments and industry companies. The participants discussed the standardization program in the oil and gas and chemical industries, as well as approaches to the replication of intersectoral equipment.
Denis Manturov stressed that the main task of the Council is to extend the successful experience of import substitution in oil and gas engineering to other industries.
“We already have engineering solutions and production competencies that are in demand far beyond the oil and gas industry,” he said.
Alexander Novak noted that the industry faces unprecedented challenges, but Russia has all the tools to ensure its independence.
“Our goal is not just to replace imports, but to create technologies and equipment that are not inferior to the best world models,” he said.
Igor Rudenya added that the entire chain of the oil and gas complex is concentrated in the North-West: from the extraction of raw materials to the training of personnel and the production of high-tech equipment.
Alexander Beglov reminded that the President set the task of achieving technological leadership. “St. Petersburg, as the largest scientific and technological center, has a special responsibility for its implementation,” the governor said. The head of the city noted that the support of science and industry is among the ten priorities for the development of St. Petersburg. Last year, the industrial production index in the city amounted to almost 109%, which is higher than the Russian average. In manufacturing, the indicator reached 114.5%, and the volume of shipped products - 6.5 trillion rubles. More than 10,000 new jobs were created in the industrial sector last year.
