The energy security of the Kaliningrad region is reliably ensured, and the statements of the Estonian authorities about plans to decommission the reserve gas pipeline will not affect fuel supplies. This was reported by TASS Governor of the region Alexey Besprozvannykh.
Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal announced his intention to initiate the decommissioning of the gas pipeline and agree on this with Latvia. If this fails, he plans to ban transit on the basis of national sanctions. Russia uses this pipeline in accordance with the contract as a backup option for supplying the region.
“Our region is able to independently ensure energy sustainability and reliability of energy supply. With regard to gas supply, the established infrastructure, including storage and regasification facilities, allows to fully meet all the necessary requirements. In this regard, the statement of the Estonian authorities on the reserve gas pipeline does not affect gas supplies to the Kaliningrad region, Besprozvanny said.
The governor added that the energy security of the region is ensured thanks to timely decisions of the Russian president and the federal government.
Earlier we wrote that Bezprozvennykh reported on the sale of subsidized tickets for Kaliningrad residents.
