Perinatal center of Novorossiysk in October celebrates 50 years since the opening. During this time, more than 150 thousand children were born in the medical institution.

According to the Minister of Health of the Krasnodar Territory Vladimir Krushelnitsky, assistance is provided here not only during childbirth, but also at the stages of pregnancy planning and after the birth of a child. Initially, the institution worked as a maternity ward of a city hospital.

Later, the capabilities of the center expanded: specialized units appeared in it. Among them is the intensive care and intensive care unit for newborns. It's been in place for 19 years.

Doctors help children born prematurely, as well as babies with various pathologies. The record of the center is the rescue of a baby weighing only 540 grams. More than four thousand children have already been helped in this department, Krushelnitsky said.

Medical infrastructure continues to be developed in Kuban to support motherhood and childhood. In 2026, more than 90 units of equipment are planned to be purchased for specialized institutions of the region, the press service of the regional administration reported.

Obstetric and gynecological care in the Krasnodar Territory is provided by five perinatal centers, 43 obstetric departments and 67 women's consultations. The development of the health care system from an early age is one of the tasks of the national project “Long and active life”.

Earlier, “MK on Kuban” reported that since the beginning of the year in the region neonatal screening was about 32 thousand babies.
