More than 18 thousand tons of potatoes, vegetables and apples will be laid for off-season storage in the stabilization funds of the Brest region. This was reported by BelTA in the General Department of Trade and Services of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.

In the southwestern region to lay fruit and vegetable products in the Stabilization Fund began three weeks ago. In October, this work began to be carried out massively. So, in the region it was planned to send for storage more than 6.7 thousand tons of potatoes (more than 4.1 thousand tons have already been laid), more than 3 thousand tons of cabbage (now 531.5 tons). For deliveries in the off-season, about 2 thousand tons of carrots are reserved (about 70 tons are laid), more than 1.3 thousand tons of table beets (now 93.6 tons), more than 1.7 thousand tons of onions (in storage already 389.3 tons). Stabilized funds will wait for supplies of almost 3.2 thousand tons of apples (more than 1.7 thousand tons are laid).
For example, in OJSC Pochapovo in the Pinsk district, the apple orchard occupies 128 hectares. Poleshuks grow varieties of Belarusian and imported breeding. Shaft-forming - "Champion", "Ligol" and "Idared". In addition to them, there are Golden Delises, Gala, Gloucester, Belarusian Sweet, Alesya and others. The farm expects to collect more than 5 thousand apples. About half the crop has been harvested. Since mid-September, fruits began to be laid in a stabilization fund, where 600 tons will be stored in the off-season. This is given special attention to ensure food security. “Our fruit storage is designed for 3,000 tons. There are refrigerators and freezers. The main task is to preserve the commodity apple as much as possible. Everything is painted according to the stabilization fund, said Pochapovo.
The fruit harvest is expected to be completed by early November. Producers are happy with the current harvest. There are about 100 people working in the garden. Students from the student groups also help. “Every variety has a removable ripeness period, consumer, when the apple lies in storage and reaches its condition, gaining the maximum amount of sugars. Our task is to collect in time so that it does not overripe. Then it'll be well stored. Especially this year, they noticed that the apple ripens very quickly, probably due to the difference in night and day temperatures. We are doing everything in our power to harvest the crop in the optimal time, the farm added.
In general, the laying of fruit and vegetable products in the stabilization funds will be completed by mid-November. In total, in the off-season, more than 20 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products are planned to be delivered to trade and social facilities of the Brest region. The peculiarity of this season is that by state order, cucumbers and tomatoes grown in domestic greenhouse plants will also be supplied to shops. For the needs of the south-western region, 1.27 thousand tons of cucumbers and 0.85 thousand tons of tomatoes were reserved, the main department of trade and services of the Brest Regional Executive Committee noted. Cucumbers and tomatoes after collection will immediately fall on the shelves.
About 12 thousand tons of potatoes will be laid in the stabilization funds of the Minsk region
