More than 2.5 thousand bets in three months: in Berezovsky district, a man lost child benefits
The prosecutor’s office of the Berezovsky district appealed to a local resident with a request to restrict her spouse in visiting gambling establishments, including virtual ones, and other gambling venues.
The prosecutor’s office of the Berezovsky district appealed to a local resident with a request to restrict her husband in visiting gambling establishments, including virtual ones, and participating in gambling, since he put her in a difficult financial situation with his hobby. This was reported in the Prosecutor General’s office, writes sb.by.
The prosecutor’s office conducted an investigation into the appeal and found that, in fact, the applicant’s husband had constantly visited gambling establishments where he had lost significant sums. At the same time, he actually lived at the expense of his wife, who was on leave to care for a child under the age of three. The man did not participate in the payment of utilities, the purchase of food, clothing and other essentials for life.
According to his mother, the son lost a one-time allowance for the birth of his first child, payments for the registration of his wife up to 12 weeks and one monthly allowance for the care of a child under the age of three, which she learned from her daughter-in-law. In total, from July to September 2026, the man made 2,550 gambling bets.
According to the results of the inspection, the prosecutor of the Berezovsky district, in the interests of the applicant, appealed to the court with a claim to restrict the man in visiting gambling establishments, virtual gambling establishments and participating in gambling. According to paragraph 14 of the Regulations on the implementation of activities in the field of gambling, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of January 10, 2005 No. 9, if an individual due to participation in gambling puts himself and (or) his family in a difficult financial situation, he may be limited in visiting gambling establishments, virtual gambling establishments and participation in gambling for a period of 6 months to 3 years by a court decision. The court decision satisfied the requirements of the Prosecutor in full — the young man is limited to 3 years.
